The very sad thing is – I accidently erased all my Halloween pictures from my camera. (I did however make the kids dress up on Monday so I could take a few – They were not too excited about that, except Aspen who loves her princess dress.

Decorating our Home:
One way to get the kids to listen to General Conference is to have them color Halloween pictures while we listen. The rule was they had to be very quiet and color 3 pictures at the beginning of each session. If they colored their very best and stayed quiet they got a special treat and we hung up all the pictures. (That’s about the best my home gets decorated for Halloween.)


Spooky Stories
One night we read all our Halloween stories by the fire and candle light. A few of our favorites are Spooky Hour, Room on a Broom, and There Was an Old Monster Who Swallowed a Tic.

Visiting the Retirement Center
The Elderly people loved to decorate their place and have the kids come trick-or-treating. Journey just learned how to walk less than 24 hours before we went so everyone thought she was so cute waddling around. They kept trying to give her extra pieces of candy. She just wanted one in each hand and one in her mouth.

Halloween at School
One huge advantage about teaching at the school my boys go to is it’s really easy to be there for all their fun activities. Nate met me at my classroom with Journey and Aspen and we all walked down the hall to watch Chase and his class parade around in their Halloween costumes. Then we all went to Tytan’s 2nd grade program. He had the very first part which introduced the program. He did a great job. His class did a really fun dance to the Monster Mash.

Halloween Day
We carved pumpkins. Tytan and Chase carved their own this year. I took tons of pictures but they were all erased –oops). Carving pumpkins was a good way to keep the kids entertained while waiting to go trick-or-treating. Our ward planned a soup and bread dinner. The idea was that everyone would come and eat then Trunk-or-Treat and play a few carnival games. We did this in the past and it was really fun. This year Mother Nature and her say and it wasn’t so fun. About 30 minutes after it started the wind picked up and blew in a huge hail storm as well as blowing all the bread and rolls on the ground. Luckily we were finished eating. We just threw the kids in the car and waited it out. Although the hail let up it kept drizzling. The kids went out for a few minutes but got really cold and wet so we went home. (The homemade donuts and soup made it worth the hassle.) After we got home the rain stopped. The boys changed into dry Halloween costumes, Nate took them out and about (They came home with way too much candy). Aspen and Journey stayed home with me. Aspen loved handing out the candy. When the doorbell rang she would beat me to the door and have the candy passed out before I got there. I’m so grateful to have little children at my home to make Halloween fun again.
